With a fresh fall of snow just in time for the races, the 3rd "Alto Adige Moonlight Classic Alpe di Siusi" began by the light of the moon on the 7. February 2009. Due to the snowfall in the run-up to the event, the OK team decided to offer all categories an additional 20 km stretch. At last, the starting shot rang out at 8 pm in Compaccio.
The winner of the 3rd “Alto Adige Moonlight Classic Alpe di Siusi” was Petr Novak (Dukla Liberec - Fischer Team). The Czech skier completed the 20 km stretch with a total time of 0:58:02, and was followed by Fabio Santus (0:58:05.1) and Florian Kostner (0:58:06.3) (both of the Gruppo Sportivo Carabinieri) in 2nd and 3rd place.

The Ladies’ race turned out to be a hat-trick for the Val Gardena valley. The winning time of 1:13:45.5 went to Demez Esther. Katherina Obletter(1:14:24.9) arrived in second place, followed by Nadia Ploner (1:14:27.6) (all from SC Gardena).

Hundreds of spectators were in attendance along the torchlit-route and at the finishing line, while festivities in the tent accompanied by music from “Schlernwind” carried on into the early hours of the morning. 

The 4th "Alto Adige Moonlight Classic Alpe di Siusi" will take place on January 29, 2010
